The charcoal is burned free from foreign materials such as sand or straw. The burning process is blocked from oxygen where the burner is covered with charcoal grains. After ignition the wood becomes dehydrated above 110oC. At 150oC the gases of various organic substances evaporate through decomposition. Between 170-250oC after a certain period of time, if the wood is not in contact with oxygen it does not burn even at staggering temperatures and pure coal is made.

Charcoal has its standard. The most important is the volume. This is done by placing coal in a box that is exactly 1m3 and weighing it. Hardwood charcoal weigh 180-200kg and the general yield is 22-25%. Good quality charcoal is shiny and you can recognise the type of wood based on the pattern.

We only produce charcoal according to the German “DIN” standard. After sieving briquettes are made from the charcoal particles strictly in “DIN” quality.
